13 kata tips video

In this live zoom karate class, Sensei amos worked on moves 12 and 20 from shotokan kata Heian Godan.

The aim of this class was to get everyone to understand the small details and different ways to apply these techniques inside Heian Godan.

Sensei Amos covered a lot of detail in this live karate class, showing different ways to pivot and turn.

We know some karateka strike with nukite on move 12 where Sensei Amos uses shuto uchi, but the basic shotokan fundamentals remain the same.

Strong pivot, Keeping the same height, shoulders down, moving from zero speed to maximine speed in an instant.

Kime on completetion, back straight, head straight and chin pulled in with the crown of the head pushing up, etc, etc.

With our live zoom karate class, every month we focus on different areas of shotokan karate along with two kata.

I have been practicing and teaching karate for over 50 years and believe first and foremost, karateka should enjoy their karate. There is nothing better than seeing a person develop into a great martial artist through their karate practice, while at the same time really enjoying karate.
