MEDICAL & TRAINING DISCLAIMER

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE BEGINNING ANY TRAINING.

1. ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Karate is a physical discipline involving strenuous exercise, stretching, and repetitive movements. By using our website and training materials, you acknowledge that these activities carry an inherent risk of physical injury. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with the techniques demonstrated in our online courses and live classes.

2. MEDICAL CONSULTATION (RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 50+)

Our courses are designed for practitioners over the age of 50. Because physical health varies significantly with age, we strongly recommend that you consult with a qualified medical professional before starting this or any new exercise program. This is particularly important if you have a history of:

  • High blood pressure or heart disease

  • Joint replacements or chronic back/neck issues

  • Balance or dizziness disorders

  • Diabetes or any condition that affects physical exertion.

3. NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL ADVICE

The content provided by Enso Karate Dojo and Shotokan Karate Online is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have seen in our videos.

4. SAFE TRAINING ENVIRONMENT

When training at home, you are solely responsible for your environment. To minimize risk, please ensure:

  • Your training area is clear of furniture, rugs, or sharp objects.

  • Your flooring is non-slip and appropriate for movement.

  • You are wearing appropriate clothing that does not restrict movement or cause tripping.

5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of England and Wales, Enso Karate Dojo, Shotokan Karate Online, and their instructors shall not be held liable for any injuries, losses, or damages (direct or indirect) resulting from the practice of the techniques shown on this site. You agree to practice within your own physical limits and “listen to your body” at all times. If you feel pain, stop immediately.

Why this specific wording is necessary:

  • “Listen to your body”: For the over-50 demographic, this is a key phrase. It places the responsibility on the student to monitor their own heart rate and joint pain.

  • “Home Environment”: In a physical dojo, the instructor is responsible for the floor being safe. For home study, you must explicitly state that they are the “safety officer” of their own living room.

  • Jurisdiction: By referencing the “laws of England and Wales,” you protect yourself from international “frivolous” lawsuits that don’t meet UK legal standards.
