online karate classesCan you learn the ancient art of karate online?

All over the world, something that was not possible just a few years ago, has now become a major part of people’s lives.

Online karate classes are now possible, the internet has enabled anyone with an internet connection, to learn karate online, put live zoom classes in the mix and you have something very special.

Some of our members practice at brick and mortar karate Dojo and use our website as a resource and supplement to their Dojo practice.

Many of our online karate academy members do not attend a regular Karate Dojo and use our online karate classes to learn karate and take their belt tests online at home.

There are a few obstacles to overcome when learning karate at home, the main one being, no partner work.

One of the attractions of learning karate is the fact that it is a personal journey, we have many members who simply do not want to pair up and spar, they love the training and especially the kata and that’s perfectly fine.

We also have members who do want to partner up at some point and so we are now planning a yearly training camp, where our members can attend and we will work through the karate sparring that they have missed.

Karate is a martial art, so partner work is an integral part of practice. But if you are unable to pair up there are things you can do that will help build striking power.

Punch bag, focus pads, kick shields and Makiwara (striking board), all help develop a strong spirit and devastating techniques, plus it’s great fun and excellent for fitness. We encourage our members to get themselves a punch bag, makiwara, etc.

Karate Kata

My Sensei used to say to me that Kumite (sparring) was the spirit of karate, but Kata (forms) was the soul.

The karate kata are an incredible area of study, they hold every fighting technique imaginable and they are an art form all by themselves, from fighting and fitness training to using the kata to improve overall health, they are truly incredible.

As I get older i am more and more interested in the karate kata, to me kata is karate and the study of kata is an incredible journey of self discovery, where you not only understand karate, but you get understand yourself!

Rank Testing From Home

With the power of video, we now have the ability to test people from the comfort of their own home.

Many of our members who train at bricks and mortar karate Dojo still take our tests and use them to improve their karate.

With our unique system, once you have the rank requirements and you feel confident, simply send us your test video and don’t worry, it’s easy to do and we guide you every step of the way.

We have many members who have achieved this.

Shotokan karate is our style, we also have live online karate classes for beginners and advanced karateka, these classes really help with people new to karate and we can see and correct people live.

Some of our members have their cameras turned off until they feel more confident and this also fine, we totally understand, we were all white belts at one stage.
