Chinte Kata Step By Step

Move 4

On the fourth move, you move your right leg to the back of the Dojo and execute a tate shuto with the right hand in fudo dachi (immovable stance).

Move 5

Now strike tate tsuki (vertical fist punch) with the left arm.

As you start the tate tsuki, drive off the back left leg, whilst at the same time, pulling the open right hand towards you and strike chudan tate tsuki with the left fist, into the right hand.

On the completion of the chudan tate tsuki, both arms are very slightly bent and your stance goes from fudo dachi on the tate shuto, to zenkutsu dachi on the tate tsuki.

Move 6

Now step forward slowly with the left leg and perform a tate shuto with the left hand in fudo dachi (immovable stance).

Move 7

As you start the tate tsuki, drive off the back right leg, whilst at the same time, pulling the open leftt hand towards you and strike chudan tate tsuki with the right fist, into the left hand.

On the completion of the chudan tate tsuki, both arms are very slightly bent and your stance goes from fudo dachi on the tate shuto, to zenkutsu dachi on the tate tsuki.

Move 8

Now step forward slowly with the right leg and perform a tate shuto with the right hand in fudo dachi (immovable stance).

Move 9

1st Chinte Kiai

Now strike age empi uchi (upper elbow strike) with the left arm and kiai.

As you start the age empi, drive off the back left leg, whilst at the same time, pulling the open right hand back towards the forearm of the striking left arm.

As the elbow lands you make a sharp transition from fudo dachi to zenkutsu dachi.

On completion of the age empi, the right palm is against the left forearm, with the right elbow down at approximately 45 degree angle.

Move 10

From the age empi in zenkutsu dachi, rotate through 180 degrees into a left sided shuto uke in kokutsu dachi.

Be sure and keep the body weight over the right leg before and after the shuto uke.

Move 11

Step forward with the right leg and execute a right shuto uke in kokutsu dachi.
